Web Based Mind Mapping Software!

I have recently been using Mind42.com's web based mind mapping software and, must I say, it's excellent. Very simple to use, great for taking notes, organizing content, creating site blueprints and anything else you can think of. You just need to be creative enough.

Though it's quite similar to other free mind mapping software, the beauty of it is that it is web based so I can just log in into my account and get hold of my maps. There is also an export option (pdf, html etc.) so you are the king of your content/maps.

There is also an attach file option, link to URL option… and more!

There is a 'receive our newsletters' checkbox you will find during sign up which you can choose to uncheck and not receive anything. It was there when I signed up.

Ever since I signed up with them, I've only received a grand total of ONE email and that was a confirmation for my registration. So I don't think they are selling the email at all. It is anyways the fastest way to lose trust and business both and I am sure they won't plan on doing that. But well, they are the bosses, and may choose to do that sometime in future. I have no control over that. :)

- You don't have to install it. It's web based like gmail etc.

- It doesn't take much bandwidth. It runs flawlessly without affecting other internet programs.

- It never installs anything on your computer. This is why I love it. I second you on avoiding a lot of installed programs especially when microsoft windows has a peculiar hobby of crashing regularly. I hate installing programs again and again, and this is why I don't even use a email client like outlook.

This is of course the primary reason. Other is safety of my content and hard work. To ensure that mind42.com's servers don't mess up and lose my data, I back up a pdf file every three-four days on my pc, and then email it to myself. I'm sure gmail and mind42.com will never crash together ;) Even if they do, I have a pdf file on my pc. It's so light weight.

Thanks for sharing that, Armaan. I haven’t used mind mapping software as of yet, but the idea has always intrigued me. We use to make mind maps back in school and they were always really helpful.

A couple of quick questions about mind42:

1. Since you have signed up with them, what do they do with your e-mail? Do they send out tons of spam or sell your e-mail address to other people?
